WHAT TO DO IF YOU WANT TO STUDY IN THE UK - SHARED BY SIR GEORGE FARRELL

What to do if you want to study in the UK?

Please watch a clip of Mr. George Farrell – Assistant Regional Director for South Asia and Southeast Asia – UK Visa and Immigration Department, talking to Foreign Trade University’s students who are preparing to transfer to the UK to study, and what they need to prepare.

First, you need to identify the course of study at one of the many institutions in the UK. There are thousands of different courses and hundreds of different institutions. Once you have identified your preferred course, you need to identify if the institution is on the sponsor list on the Gov.uk.

Once you are done, you need to apply your application to study. If you are successful, the school will send you a Certificate of Acceptance (CAS). With this notice, you will be able to apply for a Visa.

What can you do with your Student Visa?

With a student visa, you can definitely study at your chosen institution. In addition, students can apply for internships during their studies and have a paid part-time job of no more than 20 hours a week. If you are a student in a master's program or higher, you may have a full-time job outside of your time on campus.

Job opportunities after graduation:

  • The Graduate Route Visa

The UK passed a new Visa category on 01/07/2021 that allows students with university and master’s degrees to stay in the UK to work and seek employment opportunities for 2 years, while for a PhD level, it would be 3 years.

For this type of visa, you do not need any sponsorship from the employer or university, you just need to graduate from your course.

  • The Skilled Worker Visa

This type of visa is for those who do not need a university degree in the UK but have already obtained a job with a company that is willing to sponsor them to live and work in the UK. For this type of visa, they can stay in the UK for 5 years and can then extend it. Visit Gov.UK for more information on this type of visa

  • The Global Talent Route

This is a visa for talented leaders in science, humanities, engineering, architecture, art, fashion, design, Innovator Visa, and Startup Visa. Startup Visa is for early-stage startups, while a Business Innovation and Investment Visa is for any foreign country entrepreneurs wishing to incorporate a company in the UK.

  • High Potential Individual Visa

This type of Visa is for individuals who have been awarded a valid foreign qualification (if already in the UK then it must not be a UK qualification) in the last 5 years.

Students of the University of Northampton's Marketing Management program and the University of Bedfordshire's Business program should take note of this useful information.
