ORIENTATION WEEK 2026–2027

THE FIRST DAYS OF DISCOVERING FOREIGN TRADE UNIVERSITY

The first two days of Orientation Week for students enrolled in international joint programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year have brought together new encounters, meaningful conversations, and the first insights into the journey ahead at Foreign Trade University.

But Orientation Week is not simply about “getting to know the university”. More importantly, it is a time for students to begin understanding the environment they are entering and how they will become a part of it.

STARTING WITH THE VALUES OF AN FTU STUDENT

During a session with new students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien, Vice President of Foreign Trade University, introduced FTU’s six core values:

Creativity – Excellence – Responsibility – Resilience – Diversity – Harmony.

These are not merely words to remember during the first days at university. They are values that students will encounter in the way they learn, work, collaborate, and participate in the FTU community throughout the years ahead.

From this point on, perhaps being an “FTUer” will no longer feel like an unfamiliar concept. Each student will find their own way to embody these values throughout their university journey.

UNDERSTANDING THE SCHOOL, THE PROGRAMME, AND THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

At the School of International Education, students had the opportunity to meet the School’s leadership and their academic advisors, learn about their programmes, academic regulations, examination, resit and retake procedures, assessment methods, and other essential information for the years ahead.

They were also introduced to places that will gradually become familiar parts of student life, including the Office of Student Affairs, Student Support Centre, Library, and other support units across the University.

THERE IS MORE TO FTU BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Through a sharing session with Mr Doan Anh Tuan, Secretary of the FTU Youth Union, as well as introductions to the Youth Union, Student Association, student clubs, and the School of International Education’s student organisations, students gained another perspective on life at FTU.

They were also introduced to student research opportunities, the YRC Club, ways to make the most of library resources, and a series of mini-games that provided opportunities to make their first connections with fellow students.

Two days are certainly not enough to discover everything about FTU.

But they are enough to begin understanding where you are, who you can turn to, what you can get involved in, and what you may encounter along the journey ahead.

From today, you are not simply joining a new university.

You are beginning to become a part of the FTU community.
