VATEL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2025: TOURISM & HOSPITALITY TRENDS AND TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION

From February 12 to February 16, 2025, a delegation from Foreign Trade University (FTU), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien – Vice President of FTU, attended the Annual International Conference of Vatel Hotel & Tourism Business School in Bahrain.
Bahrain, the venue for the Vatel International Conference 2025, is not only a major financial hub in the Middle East but also a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Known as the “Pearl of the Gulf,” Bahrain features vibrant traditional markets, stunning Islamic architecture, and skyscrapers that symbolize its rapid development.
Beyond its strong economy, Bahrain is home to the Bahraini Dinar (BHD), one of the world’s strongest currencies. It is also a luxury tourism and hospitality hotspot, offering world-class resorts, Formula 1 Grand Prix events, and a rich culinary scene that fuses Arab, Persian, and Western influences.
The conference brought together global partners to discuss the latest trends in the hospitality and tourism industry, particularly the impact of Gen Z and Gen Alpha on the labor market and education sector.
Vatel, alongside its partner institutions—including Foreign Trade University—emphasized the importance of continuous innovation to meet student expectations and industry demands. During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien delivered a presentation on how training institutions can adapt their curricula to equip students with essential practical skills for the global workforce.
Beyond in-depth discussions, the FTU delegation had the opportunity to meet and interact with students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of International Hotel Management program at Vatel Bahrain. These direct conversations provided valuable firsthand insights into their experiences and expectations from the hospitality and tourism industry.
At the Faculty of International Education (FoIE) – FTU, staying ahead of industry shifts is always a top priority. Lessons learned from the conference will not simply be absorbed but carefully analyzed and integrated into the curriculum to ensure that FTU students are always equipped with the latest industry knowledge, ready to excel in the fast-growing hospitality and tourism sector.
