WORKING SESSION WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF HYOGO UNIVERSITY (JAPAN)

On the morning of August 22, 2023, Foreign Trade University had a welcoming and working session with Hyogo University (Japan) on cooperation programs between the two institutions. From Hyogo University side, there were Dr. Makoto Kono - President, Dr. Shigeki Matsumoto - Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Economic Studies and two interpreters. From Foreign Trade University side, there were Assoc. Prof. Bui Anh Tuan - Principal, Assoc. Prof. Ho Thuy Ngoc - Dean of the Faculty of International Education and cooperators in charge of the cooperation program between the two institutions.

At the meeting, Dr. Makoto Kono expressed his excitement that this was his first time coming to Vietnam and having the opportunity to visit Foreign Trade University. He highly appreciated the quality of transfer students in the collaboration program between the two institutions. Mr. Kono hopes that FTU and Hyogo University can cooperate in implementing a number of new programs to support the development of the Vietnamese market. He also proposed to cooperate in new programs such as exchanging lecturers and students, supporting Hyogo University students to do internship in Vietnam. In addition, he also shared more about the fact that starting from September 2023, Hyogo University will open a scholarship fund for transferred students in the collaboration program between the two institutions. Each year studying at Hyogo University, students will receive a scholarship worth 326,000 yen, the scholarship will be deducted from tuition fees.

After that, Assoc. Prof. Bui Anh Tuan introduced the programs that Foreign Trade University is cooperating with Japanese universities, organizations and businesses. He also discussed that Foreign Trade University is focusing on developing the Data Science project in Economics and Business. Dr. Makoto Kono expressed his desire to join Foreign Trade University in developing the Data Science project by providing experts in data analysis and application - Mr. Miyazaki Kosei, founding member of Yahoo! Japan.

The working session with Hyogo University's delegations helped strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two institutions, and had practical significance in motivating and encouraging students of the two institutions to continue their academic efforts.
