The Freedom Crossing Monument is located on the bank of the Niagara River in Lewiston, New York, and honors the courage of fugitive slaves who sought a new life of freedom in Canada, and the local volunteers who protected and helped them on their journey across the Niagara River. The monument leaves significant marks, showing that mothers are always willing to do their best and sacrifice, for their children's sake.

With a special location, right across the Niagara River from Ontario, Niagara University is the only "binational" university in the U.S. and received accreditation from MSCHE. To best facilitate students’ learning process, the master classes at Niagara University (Ontario) are held in the evening or weekend, so that students do not have to miss their work.
