The President of the Foreign Trade University Officially Visits the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum

On May 16, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, The President of the Foreign Trade University, officially visited The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, one of the museums holding a treasure trove of cultural and artistic heritage of the Vietnamese ethnic communities, with a delegation. The purpose of this visit and working session was to exchange views on opportunities for collaboration between the two organizations in pioneering the integration of various art forms closer to students, enhancing spiritual and aesthetic values for the younger generation.


The delegation from the Foreign Trade University included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thuy Ngoc, Dean of the Faculty of International Education, MA. Le Hoang Lien, Dean of the General Administration Department, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dat, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of International Education, Dr. Bui Duy Linh, Vice-Dean of Communication and External Relations Department, along with teachers and four Canadian student interns at the Faculty of International Education. These international students were excited and impressed by the nearly 20,000 collected artifacts preserved at the museum, including nearly 2,000 items regularly displayed and representative artworks of Vietnamese art from prehistoric times to now.

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, Ms. Thu Huong, Head of the Communication and External Relations Department of The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, along with museum’s staffs. During the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan shared that the Foreign Trade University places great emphasis on the comprehensive development of its students, not only in academics but also in other areas such as music, sports, and especially the arts. Mr. Anh Minh expressed agreement with this approach, stating his desire for Vietnamese youth to have more access to art and music as they lead people to embrace the beautiful things in life and thereby lay a solid foundation for cultural and ethical development in society.

Mr. Minh also introduced the professors of the Foreign Trade University and the international students to the history of the formation of The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum and its extensive collection of valuable artifacts and artworks, including 9 national treasures, as well as lacquer paintings, oil paintings, silk paintings, paper paintings, sculptures, and ceramics from prehistoric times to now. The professors and international students were enthusiastic to explore and admire these remarkable artworks. Additionally, the students were impressed by the multimedia presentation application iMuseum VFA, the 3D Tour, the VAES Online Art Exhibition Space, and the museum's online multi-mode ticketing system. These digitalization efforts are highly appreciated as they help young people access art more easily.

Moreover, the professors and students thoroughly enjoyed "seizing the moment" to take photos with the bougainvillea trees at the museum.  The international students will cherish wonderful memories and incredibly beautiful souvenir photos from this place.

The meeting ended successfully and promised to open up many opportunities for cooperation between the two organizations, with the hope that students of Foreign Trade University in particular and Vietnamese youth in general will have many opportunities to learn about fine arts, culture and Vietnam’s history, even right in the university lecture hall.
