THE PERMANENT UNDER-SECRETARY AT THE HOME OFFICE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM WANTS TO COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY WITH FTU STUDENTS TRANSFERRING TO THE UK

On 15/08/2022, Sir Matthew Rycroft, Permanent Under-Secretary at the Home office of the United Kingdom spoke to Foreign Trade University students who were preparing to transfer to the UK to complete their studies and those wishing to study at a higher level in the UK.

Mr. Rycroft answered three key questions:

(1) How can FTU students contribute to the strong Vietnam-UK friendship? 

(2) If you wish, how can you continue your education in the UK?

(3) And why do we want to help you?

He confirmed that you represent the best and brightest students in the country and that they look forward to welcoming you to the new UK Visa system. With this new Visa system, students come to the UK legally and safely to study at one of the top universities in the world. Additionally, recent updates to the Visa system have also opened up the option for students to stay and work in the UK after graduation. This offers many advantages to the two countries. For the UK, the presence of international students enhances the diversity and richness of universities and society. For Vietnam, with high skills and work experience, students will return to contribute to the country and build themselves prosperous lives with whatever career they choose. 

He remembered Vietnam was a poor country with a low income. But in just a short time, Vietnam has become a country of outstanding economic development, surpassing many countries in the world. As you can see today, Vietnam is a middle-income country and by 2045 Vietnam has ambitions to become a high-income country. He also mentioned that high-income countries are not countries where people illegally enter richer countries to work underground and send money back…
