Foreign Trade University - Faculty of International Education

On 7 Jul 2015, Foreign Trade University and Portland State University jointly held the Press Conference to announce the PSU Vietnam Scholars Program.  Through this program, PSU is making $6 million USD in scholarship funding available students in Vietnam. While all high achieving students are eligible for awards, students from PSU’s Vietnam Scholars Partner Institutions, including Foreign Trade University as well as 5 other National Universities, who successfully enroll in PSU are guaranteed initial awards of $4500. Attendees of the press conference included Mr. Wim Wiewel - President of Portland State University (USA); Ms. Joyce Hamilla - Director of International Partnerships, PSU; A. Prof, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of Foreign Trade University; and staff members, lecturers, students, and alumni from PSU and FTU. The Press Conference also attracted the attention of media representatives from VTV2, Thanhnien Newspaper, Tuoitre Newspaper, Tienphong Newspaper, Vietnam Investment Review, Giaoduc&thoidai Newspaper, Laodong Newspaper, Student Newspaper.

Portland State University (PSU) is a public institution in United State of America, which is recognized as one of America's Best Colleges 2014 - 2015 according to the US News & World Report and The Princeton Review. With the aim of preparing the next generation of leaders in Vietnam, The PSU Vietnam Scholars program sets aside $6 million in tuition funding for students from Vietnam. This scholarship is available to students at all levels including freshman, transfer, and masters and PhD.  The scholarship is also available for all majors and fields of study available at PSU.

Following a series of meetings and discussions with the Faculty of International Education, Foreign Trade University, PSU named FTU a Vietnam Scholars Partner Institution and will offer FTU students who successfully enroll in PSU with the minimum scholarship of $4500 USD/student annually to maximum of 10.000 USD/students per annum. FTU joins a prestigious group of Vietnam Scholars Partner Institutions including University of Science, VNUHCMC; International University, VNUHCMC; Eastern International University; and University of Economics and Business, Hanoi.

With the aim to nurture the talent and build up high quality human resources for Vietnam in the field of international trade and business, Foreign Trade University always seeks to develop the international cooperation that can bring about the opportunity for FTU students to reach towards future success. The signing agreement ceremony today and FTU’s participation in PSU’s Vietnam Scholars Program marks a new phase in the bilateral partnership between Foreign Trade University and Portland State University (USA).
