LEARNING WITH A MONASH UNIVERSITY LECTURER: FROM DATA TO BETTER FINANCIAL DECISIONS

With the aim of providing students with an international-standard learning environment and opportunities to gain insights from leading experts, on 28 July, the Faculty of International Education, Foreign Trade University organised the seminar “From Data to Decisions: An Introduction to Econometrics and Business Analytics” for students enrolled in the Faculty’s programmes. The session was delivered by Dr Nikolas Kuschnig, Senior Lecturer at Monash University, Australia.

In an era of rapid digital transformation, data has become an increasingly important foundation for businesses and financial institutions to make accurate and effective decisions. During the seminar, Dr Nikolas Kuschnig shared practical perspectives on the role of Econometrics and Business Analytics in using data to support decision-making. Through engaging examples, students explored how data can be applied to forecast trends, assess risks, evaluate performance, and support strategic planning in today’s business environment.

Beyond gaining academic knowledge, students also had the opportunity to engage directly with a lecturer from Monash University and learn more about emerging trends in education, research, and the evolving demands of the global labour market. The speaker’s insights helped students broaden their analytical thinking, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the value of studying in an international academic environment.

Held in an open and engaging atmosphere, the seminar attracted strong interest from students, with lively discussions and questions focusing on the application of data in finance, banking, and business.
