"HIDDEN CORNER" OF A FIRST-YEAR STUDENT'S INTERNSHIP AT A HOTEL

Update thứ sáu, 13/09/2024

In addition to having the opportunity to practice at 5-star hotels and receiving hands-on guidance in even the most basic tasks from top managers in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, first-year students at the Faculty of International Education gain numerous other valuable experiences during their 3-month internship.

The first time I stepped into the B1 basement floor waiting for the interview, I was overwhelmed by the friendliness of the staff here and the way everything was thoughtfully arranged. The walls were adorned with motivational quotes about hard work, effort, and sayings that reflect high morable and solidarity.

The interview went smoothly, and I was assigned to the position of Guest Service Agent (GSA), responsible for welcoming guests, handling check-in and check-out procedures. During the working period, I was guided by the staff and exposed to the simplest tasks, such as memorizing basic hotel information, assisting with guest luggage, showing guests to their rooms, and handling guest needs. Later on, I was entrusted with more specialized tasks, such as managing guest records, shift handovers, and invoicing.

The colleagues always supported and guided us wholeheartedly. After some time working together, we often shared meals. The hotel meals were carefully prepared by the chefs in the canteen, both delicious and well-balanced, with a different menu every day. Occasionally, there were special meals, and I enjoyed the food so much that I gained 2kg.

Perhaps the memory I won’t forget is “Employee Week”. During this week, many posters and pictures were hung all over the basement. As soon as you stepped into the basement, the managers would greet you with water bottles and light snacks to uplift everyone’s spirit. During this time, the food menu became more diverse and even tastier, and there were also internal competitions like Master Chef and Masked Singer,...

"And especially in The Masked Singer competition, I was very lucky to win third place in the final round. This competition allowed me to get to know many brothers and sisters from other departments. I can’t deny that during ‘Employee Week,’ I had the chance to experience many new things and become closer to the IC72 family, not only in the Front Office department. The first memories with this family will forever stay in my heart
