EVERY TRANSFER JOURNEY – FTU IS THERE FOR OUR STUDENTS

Every year, when students from the collaborative programmes between Foreign Trade University and Ming Chuan University, Taiwan complete their studies at FTU and prepare to transfer to Taiwan, the University is always there to support them throughout the journey.

This year, more than 100 students from the Hanoi Headquarters and the Ho Chi Minh City Campus once again set off for MCU to begin a new stage of their studies. For many of them, this is their first time living and studying in an international environment for an extended period. Therefore, alongside academic preparation, ensuring that students arrive safely, complete the necessary procedures, and settle into their new lives during the first few days is also an important part of the transfer journey.

From the moment students depart, the Faculty of International Education at the Hanoi Headquarters and the International Education Division at the Ho Chi Minh City Campus coordinate with the student groups throughout their journey, including transportation, immigration procedures, and arrival at their designated campuses in Taipei or Taoyuan. In Taiwan, FTU staff continue to support students with checking into their dormitories, familiarising themselves with the new environment, and coordinating with MCU to complete enrolment procedures.

In particular, the first few days in a new country often involve a number of procedures that students may have never handled before. From completing their Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) application, undergoing health examinations, registering for health insurance, opening bank accounts, and registering phone numbers, to completing enrolment documents and other related paperwork, FTU staff provide guidance and coordinate with the relevant parties so that students can complete each step fully and in accordance with regulations.

Throughout this process, if any issues arise regarding transportation, accommodation, administrative procedures, or the challenges of adjusting to life in a new environment, students also have a point of contact at FTU who can provide support and coordinate with the partner university to resolve them.

This support has become a familiar part of the Faculty of International Education's student transfer activities over the years. FTU understands that for students stepping into an international environment for the first time, preparation is not only about their academic programme, but also about giving them peace of mind as they begin a new chapter of their lives.

And the journey does not end when students arrive in Taiwan. Through its cooperation with MCU, FTU continues to explore and expand opportunities for students to study, gain practical experience, and undertake internships in Taiwan, giving them greater exposure to real-world environments and international experiences that support their personal development.

A flight may take students to a new country. But for their first days there to become a smooth and positive beginning, there is always careful preparation, connection, and support from those who have accompanied them throughout the journey so far.
